In Ranong, the prevalence of HIV/AIDS is closely linked to poverty, human trafficking, desperation, and limited access to education.
The Marist Asia Foundation responds with compassion and care, supporting both those living with HIV/AIDS and the families who care for them.
The HIV/AIDS Health Project offers a range of services, including:
- Home visits to patients
- A community-based health program for those with HIV/AIDS
- Language translation and support in accessing hospital services
- Emotional and spiritual care
- Health and social education within families and the wider Burmese community
Through these initiatives, the Health Project works to reduce the transmission of HIV/AIDS and to challenge the stigma that often surrounds the illness.
