Balay Pasilungan

“Balay Pasilungan”, meaning “shelter home”, is a haven for young street boys in the heart of Bankerohan, Davao City, Philippines.

It offers refuge in times of crisis—a place to escape the hardships of street life, the pain of family breakdown or domestic violence, and the dangers of exploitation by adults who prey on vulnerable children.

Since its establishment in May 1989, the Foundation of Balay Pasilungan, Inc., administered by the Society of Mary—Marist Fathers and Brothers—has been dedicated to serving the needs of street children in Davao City.

Like many urban areas, Davao City faces challenges such as rapid migration, unemployment, inadequate housing, and struggling street families. In response, Balay Pasilungan provides shelter for boys who have found themselves homeless due to a variety of difficult circumstances.

The foundation offers more than just a roof—it provides a nurturing, family-like environment and equips the boys with the skills and opportunities needed for a brighter, more stable future.

With consistent care, love, and the fulfillment of basic needs, the center aims to help these children reconnect with their families and reintegrate into the community. It also seeks to inspire a desire for education and to foster strong moral and personal values.
